About Me

I came from Vietnam to San Diego when I was fifteen-years old. I graduated from Crawford High School in 1984 and from UC San Diego in 1987. I love learning and working with young people both inside and outside of school settings. I have been teaching middle school and high school mathematics in San Diego County for about 30 years. Since 2011, I served as a Math for America (MfA) San Diego Noyce Master Teaching Fellow and have collaborated with many teachers on numerous professional development projects and academic support programs including ACCESS (Applying College and Career Equity-based STEM Strategies), math tutor training for UCSD Eleanor Roosevelt College, Upward Bound, TRIO programs, UCSD OASIS Summer Bridge, AVID, and Oceanside Unified School District’s GEARUP Summer Academy. Since 2016, I have also served as the Assistant Director for the Discrete Math Project Collaborative at SDSU, co-writing a Discrete Math curriculum aimed at preparing students for college math and supporting teachers in Sweetwater Union High School District to implement the curriculum. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, camping, and spending time with my family.
