Education

San Diego State University

  • Multiple Subject Teaching credential

About Me

I received my Multiple Subject teaching credential from San Diego State University in 1989, and immediately entered into the work force teaching kindergarten through sixth grade, as a visiting teacher. At the end of my second year it became very clear to me that sixth graders are my favorite age group to teach, because they are inquisitive and less afraid to share their thoughtful opinions. In 1991 I was hired as a full time sixth grade teacher at Wilson Academy, where I taught for six years, and for the last fourteen years I have been teaching at Marston Middle School.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY:

My teaching philosophy is simple: let your students see the enthusiasm you have for the subjects you teach, and help them catch the fire through fun, engaging, and challenging lessons. And along the way, give a ton of praise for any steps made in learning, whether minuscule or gargantuan.

HOBBIES:

My hobbies are reading, writing, tennis, and inventing.I am ecstatic to announce that one of my inventions will be published in the spring of 2012 as a strategic board game and computer game. This dream has been realized through the help of my wife and two teenage boys, and by the giver of good gifts from above.
