About Me

Hello! My name is Nora Castro (Miss Castro), and I am so happy to be your teacher this year! I know it’s going to be a fantastic year, especially with you in my class :) 7th grade is a year of discovery, growth and creativity. This year we will travel to interesting places through our reading and analyze the various characters we meet with the help of our imagination. We will learn about the plot of a story, figurative language and how authors use such tools to create a theme in a story. Additionally, we will explore the elements of a narrative, argument and informational piece of writing. I am so excited to begin our learning process!

On May 12, 2012, I graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Single Subject English. Here, I learned (and relearned) about the various aspects of the English Language Arts: How to determine a theme, how to make inferences while I read, how to write essays etc. On May 14, 2014, I graduated from The University of San Diego with a Master’s Degree in Instruction and Curriculum. Here, I learned how to create lesson plans so that I can properly share my knowledge with you. My greatest wish is that you, like me, learn to appreciate literature.

In my spare time, I love to spend time with my boyfriend (Tony), family and friends! Who doesn’t, right? My boyfriend and I like to go on roadtrips! Some of our favorite destinations are: San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Felipe! Another interesting fact about me, is that I am part of a Book Club where my friends and I take turns choosing a book to read each month. I like this club because it inspires all of us to read books that we wouldn’t normally choose for ourselves. Apart from reading, my friends and I also enjoy going out to dance, going out for brunch and creating memories together. I love to document these special memories in my journal and in my scrapbook. I especially love documenting memories of Holidays with my big family. I like to refer to them as “My Big Crazy Mexican Family” and they consist of my relatives and my boyfriend’s relatives. I am so thankful for each and every one of them because they are funny, loving and energetic. Not to mention, I’ve got the happiest childhood memories with older family members and lovely recent memories with the younger members of the family (and Tony’s relatives whom I met about 6 years ago). I hope that in this somewhat brief description of me, you’ve learned as much about me as I intend to learn about you.
