For the last two months, Marston's Robotics students have been participating in the 2016 FIRST Lego League Robotics challenge, Animal Allies. FLL introduces students to real-world engineering challenges by developing their own solution to a current scientific problem and building autonomous LEGO based robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing surface. This year's theme, Animal Allies was about exploring the relationship between people and animals. A big shout out to Clairemonsters Blue for taking home the First Place trophy for the Animal Allies Research Project! Another shout out to Clairemonster Blue for placing 11th and Clairemonster Red for placing 13th in the Robot Game! Considering there were 22 teams at the event they should all be very proud of what they were able to accomplish. Clairemonster Blue has been invited to participate in the Championship at Legoland on December 4th against 59 other teams from around Southern California.
Please congratulate the following students in their accomplishments and the wonderful journey they have already experienced--the friendships they've developed, what they've learned and discovered, the experts they met, challenges encountered and conquered, and the fun they've had! The qualifying event they just attended yesterday at High Tech High was their opportunity to shine, interact with adults and other teams around San Diego, and to gain self-confidence. They all had the opportunity to deal with adversity and solve problems under pressure. I couldn't ask for a better way to start my day than coaching Robotics to a great group of kids!
