Principal's Update Oct.30th

Good Afternoon Marston Parents,
Congratulations to all students and parents for completing the first quarter of the school year! We have worked very hard to provide a high quality education during these challenging circumstances. We will soon be providing a survey to get your feedback which will help us reinforce and refine our practices. Starting on Monday, November 2nd students will begin attending their 4th, 5th and 6th period classes online at 9, 10 and 11 a.m. – the same overall schedule that we have right now.

ACCESSING STUDENTS’ QUARTER 2 COURSES – PLEASE DO NOW
Although Q2 classes do not start until Monday, students should join their Q2 classes now. To know which classes to join, log into Powerschool and review the student schedule. Identify the assigned teacher for periods 4, 5 and 6. Then click here to get the course codes each one of those classes. Pay attention to the class period next to the teacher’s name. For example, students that have Mr. Wilkinson for 5th period should join the code that corresponds to period 5. Joining the wrong class period creates issues for all parties. Click here for a resource to further help with this.

IMPORTANT CHANGES!!! SECOND QUARTER MATERIALS PICK-UP – MULTIPLE DATES
Materials pick-up for engineering and visual art is Friday, October 30 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. This will be in the small parking lot next to the administration building and the library.
The new pick-up date for guitar and orchestra will be November 6th from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. This will be in the parking lot next to the auditorium.

SAN DIEGO COASTKEEPERS 6TH GRADE PROJECT EVENT – NOVEMBER 2nd and NOVEMBER 3rd
The San Diego Coastkeepers 6th Grade Project, Water and Climate Stewards to the Rescue, is proudly sponsoring a candy wrapper collection site in the Martson Middle School Office Parking Lot (next to the library) on November 2nd and 3rd from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Please collect all your clean candy wrappers and place them in a paper bag. Then drive through the parking lot and drop them in the box. Ms. Hashimoto’s classes will send the wrappers to the recycling center.
Why is this important? The most common item found in the ocean on the days following Halloween are various types of candy wrappers. The wrappers are small, hard to recycle, and attractive to birds, fish and other wildlife. Most candy wrappers are a blend of different materials and hard to recycle. We have been given a box to fill with candy wrappers, and the postage to ship the box to a candy wrapper recycling center. Thank you for supporting our project and for helping save our oceans and water ways!
